Job Description

The successful candidate will play a key support role in Hampton Securities’ institutional equity sales by providing analytical, research, and coordination support. This position is designed for a junior professional seeking hands‑on exposure to institutional coverage, idea generation, and equity financing activity while working closely with senior sales, origination, and capital markets professionals.

Key areas of responsibility include:

Equity Capital Markets: Support the execution of equity financings for public issuers by assisting with investor targeting, preparation of marketing materials, coordination of corporate access, and post‑transaction analysis.

Origination Assistance: Assist senior team members in identifying equity financing opportunities and developing trading and investment ideas by conducting market research, company analysis, and comparable reviews.

Relationship Support: Support institutional client coverage efforts by preparing meeting materials, assisting with follow‑ups, tracking client interactions, and helping deliver timely market information and trade ideas.

Trading Support: Work with institutional sales, trading, and research teams to help deliver customized equity solutions through market analysis, trade monitoring, and execution support.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior sales and origination professionals in managing and servicing institutional client relationships.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of market updates, trade ideas, equity research summaries, and corporate access materials to institutional clients.
  • Support equity capital markets activity, including equity raises, marketed offerings, and secondary transactions, through deal preparation, investor outreach support, and coordination with internal teams.
  • Help facilitate corporate access initiatives such as non‑deal roadshows, investor meetings, conferences, site visits, and management calls.
  • Conduct basic market, sector, and company‑level analysis to support investment ideas, capital markets initiatives, and client discussions.
  • Maintain internal client and deal trackers, monitor trading activity, and assist with reporting on commissions and market activity.
  • Assist with RFP responses, client onboarding documentation, and internal compliance processes.
  • Collaborate with sales, trading, research, and capital markets teams to ensure timely execution and follow‑up on client and issuer initiatives.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with CIRO regulations and internal compliance policies.
  • Support general administrative and analytical tasks essential to the daily operations of the institutional equity sales team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline.
  • 0–2 years of experience in capital markets, institutional sales support, investment banking, trading, research, or a related financial services role (internships included).
  • Interest in institutional equity markets, equity capital markets, and issuer advisory.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and support investment and financing ideas.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal coordination and client‑facing materials.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with Bloomberg considered an asset.
  • Basic understanding of equity products, capital markets transactions, and institutional investors.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented work environment
  • Eligible for registration under CIRO requirements (as applicable).
